2017 Nissan Titan XD

When Nissan introduced the all-new Titan XD to the model lineup last year, it was initially available in a Crew Cab version only. Well now that’s changed with the announcement of a single cab Nissan Titan XD for 2017. This is great news for folks who use their trucks primarily for work, and may not need the extra space—or the extra cost—of a full-size Crew Cab truck. With the same powertrain choices as the Titan XD Crew Cab, these standard cab pickups are going to be some true workhorse trucks. In fact, with the reduced weight of a single cab, this newest Titan XD will have an even higher towing and payload rating than its Crew Cab counterpart.

While the new single cab Titan XD is mainly aimed at fleet managers and commercial businesses, we’re sure a lot of folks around here are going to be interested in this new cab style. With more capacity and at a better entry point than the more extravagant Crew Cab, the new Titan XD single cab will find plenty of interest on job sites. With its huge towing capacity, it’s also a great truck for pulling big boats and trailers.

Titan XD Single Cab Powertrains

The 2017 Titan XD single Cab will be powered by either a 5.6-liter Endurance gas engine or the powerful 5.0-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. The gas engine will come standard with a 7-speed automatic, while the Cummins diesel will be paired with a 6-speed Aisin automatic. Both of these engines are powerful performers, with the gas version delivering 390-horsepower and 394 lb-ft. of torque. The Cummins turbo is rated at 310-horsepower, and an astonishing 555 lb-ft. of torque. This is definitely the choice for anyone who uses their truck to pull things.

Towing and Payload Capacities

Thanks to its reduced weight and full-sized 8-foot bed, the new 2017 Titan XD single cab will out haul and out pull even the highly-rated Titan XD Crew Cab truck. The 2017 XD single cab with the Cummins diesel will have a towing capacity of 12,640 pounds—340 pounds more than its Crew Cab equivalent. It will also have a payload capacity rating of 2,420 pounds. The 5.5-liter gas engine single cab XD will be rated to tow 11,590 pounds, which is 320 pounds more than the Crew Cab with the same engine. Payload capacity for this truck is also increased, and is rated at 2,910 pounds.

Features and Trim Levels

When it arrives sometime this fall, the Titan XD single cab will be available in base S and mid-tier SV trim levels. Nothing all that fancy, but then these are work trucks aren’t they. Inside, the dash layout is the same as the XD Crew Cab, but with fewer available options. Seating will be a 40/20/40 split-bench, and with no leather option. Keyless entry and push-button start are standard equipment, as are power windows and locks. So as you can see, even in its base configuration the Titan XD single cab is going to be one nice work truck.
